Join the Durham Food Co-op

Joining the Co-op is easy! Membership is available to anyone, and while everyone can shop at the Co-op, only Co-op members receive extra benefits.

h4. Membership entitles one to a 5% discount at check out, but volunteering can increase that discount.

By working a shift members can save even more by helping the Co-op become a better place to shop. If you work 3 hours every other week (or equivalent), you receive a 10% discount. If you work 3 hours every week, your discount is 20%.

You can have regular scheduled member labor shifts like:

* Be a cashier
* Stock shelves
* Pick up the bread order at bakery
* Keep the produce look good

or flexible shifts like:

* Serve on one of the CO-OP's committees
* Put up posters to advertise CO-OP events
* Make coop publicity flyers
* Design the CO-OP newsletter
* Organize CO-OP events
* Tally daily sales figures and track sales trends
* Manage intensive neighborhood outreach effort
