In 1948 George Orwell wrote Nineteen Eighty Four. It was a prescient novel, now properly classified as non-fiction. The book describes a nation in which: the Ministry of Truth, in newspeak, was Minitrue; the Ministry of Love maintained law and order under the name Miniluv; everlasting war with the enemy of the moment was the business of Minipax, and Miniplenty maintained the privileged class. "Reality control" and "doublethink" were everyday government actions. "War is Peace" and "Ignorance Is Strength" were two of the main slogans of the Party of Big Brother.
